The man called boss

I have been hearing so many jokes about our boss like one famous series Dilbert Is they really so dumb? Everyone amongst us wants be a boss sooner or later den
why we hate that so much now. Is this a kind of jealousy or something else? Take a case of software industry as I m pretty familiar with.
We have team lead or project lead ( TL or PL )as our immediate boss. They assign work to us and provide feedback to hierarchy about us.
We always have conflict of interest with him. Sometimes he forces us to do something. He did not give us good hike.
These are the basic reason and he can not do anything to avoid this kind of conflict. He has to apply all means he knows to take best out of you.
There are several incident in my life that I felt my immediate boss doesn’t like him. No body has done anything wrong with me till now but still I can feel in his/her eyes. May be this is because of my attitude.
I hardly accept anyone’s supremacy on me. I want to do work when I like to do and the kind of work I like. I get fed up with same kind of work very soon. But I know I have to do the work what I am getting because I am
paid for that. So here comes the fundamental reason of conflict. But still I feel sympathy towards the man called boss as he has to tolerate hate in most of the peoples eyes. He will find easily few people who believes
in flattering but in today’s world specially in IT industry, Its very rare.

Because of these things even he do not work so much that earns revenue, he deserve to be boss and paid more den you.

Appraisal Letter

As financial year is ending, we ( s/w ) people are looking for apraisal.Here I found a inresting story that telles how much we are worried about our apraisal…
There was a contest in TCS to write a fictional story for 500 words max which would start with the line ” On a dark and foggy night, a small figure lay huddled on the railway tracks leading to the Chennai station ”
This is what a guy wrote for the contest……. and surprisingly, it was adjudged the best short story : ))
On a dark and foggy night, a small figure lay huddled on the railway tracks leading to the Chennai station. At once I was held back to see someone in that position during midnight with no one around. With curiosity taking the front seat, I went near the body and tried to investigate it. There was blood all over the body which was lying face down. It seemed that a ruthless blow by the last train could have caused the end of this body which seemed to be that of a guy of around my age. Amidst the gory blood flow, I could see a folded white envelope which was fluttering in the midnight wind. Carefully I took the blood stained envelope and was surprised to see the phrase “Appraisal Letter” on it. With curiosity rising every moment, I wasted no time in opening the envelope to see if I can find some details about the dead guy. The tag around the body’s neck and the jazzy appraisal cover gave me the hint that he might be a software engineer. I opened the envelope to find a shining paper on which the appraisal details where typed in flying colors. Thunders broke into my ears and lightening struck my heart when I saw the appraisal amount of the dead guy!!!!! My God, it was not even, as much as the cost of the letter on which the appraisal details were printed…. My heart poured out for the guy and huge calls were heard inside my mind saying “no wonder, this guy died such a miserable death”…  As a fellow worker in the same industry, I thought I should mourn for him for the sake of respect and stood there with a heavy heart thinking of the shock that he would have experien! ced when his manager had placed the appraisal letter in his hand. I am sure his heart would have stopped and eyes would have gone blank for few seconds looking at the near to nothing increment in his salary.
While I mourned for him, for a second my hands froze to see the employee’s name in the appraisal letter… hey, what a strange co-incidence, this guy’s name is same as mine, including the initials. This was interesting.
With some mental strength, I turned the body upside down and found myself fainted for a second. The guy not only had my name, but also looked exactly like me. Same looks, same built, same name…. it was me who was dead there!!!!!!!! While I was lost in that shock, I felt someone patting on my shoulders. My heart stopped completely, I could not breathe and sprung in fear to see who was behind……… splash!!! Went the glass of water on my laptop screen as I came out of my wild dream to see my manager standing behind my chair patting on my shoulder saying, “wake up man? Come to meeting room number two. I have your appraisal letter ready”.

Daru and suttta….

Whats so special about drinking alcohol and smoking….Why we ( Here we refers to me, my frnds and most of the people of my age group in same situtaion I am in ) are so much attracted towards it.
Some of the people specially girls always commented on my this habbit that you people do it because of show off but if that was the case den why we were drinking sitting in a closed room in our flat.
I don’t think I do this becuase of any specific frustration or pain….but there must be a strong reaon I am doing that by taking my health on rsik.
I tried to find reason for that with my close friend Subash reddy…so check out our argument, I am putting it into four pashe, first one is when we are not drunked and and second one is when we drunked.Third one is scientific or biological reason and last and favourate of mine is philosophical and psychological reason :-

search for job, what we look ? In my opinion salary for some extent place of posting and job stability.
When ever we get a news, someone get a offer from a company with a package that double of whta we are earning.In our mind it comes I shoud also
start Job hunting and try to get huge package a much as I can….

Frustration….

What software engineering is ? Information Technology or better as what software engineers are???
Are they engineers? Really. Especially when you are working for services.
When I was in school I used to think engineers do something that give boost to technology specially those who graduated from IITs.
In college I studied Chemical Engineering and Technology or better say was enrolled for that (most of people know 🙂 ).
So during 4 year from day one of college one thing was in the mind the ” we will get a job in IT company Infosys or some other.”
There is already a mind set that we have to go in IT industry …this was not came to uour mind from college but even before knowing that which college
we are going to join, this factor was in to considerations, irrespective of branch we chose best college because we will get a job in IT industry with good salary.
Ultimately the result is 4 years, I studied a technology, which I was knowing from the start that I will never use in future.( that’s a different thing that I never studied 4 year and some of people
may be hopeful of landing up in Chemical filed but I was never.)So it was waste of time but no one agrees? Neither my heart. Because we all love our college, we feel happy whenever think of those days
so it will not be biased to say that” in college we have learned so many things by living in hostel and such a nice environment that has made our personality”. Me too agrees with the statement but some of mine friends does not and
my logical brain also have different think to say.
Lets discuss little bit of Jobs that we do in IT industry (specially services sector ).
Scenario -1
My first Job was to provide services to a Health care player( player ).So what basically we do is they have a data like there members, doctors and hospitals who are part of there network, their claims etc.
So in mainframes their data is maintained. All tractions like billing, claims blah blah….so what our jobs was…..we were not asked for data entry but there was a process. They had a online screens they enter data every thing should be fixed.
So we have to monitor jobs if something happens we have to fix or if they want some changes we have to make changes to code accordingly. So basically a bugs fixing work that not at all so much heavy that you have to take load on you brain.
Its require basically more time and patience and reasonable aptitude. So I was not very happy because somewhere in my mind a appetite of doing some kind of research work was there as it was my perception when I appeared for IIT exam.
And I very well know I can’t do research kind of work or If I was really interested then I could have given GRE like my other classmate to do MS.
So the case is very complicated here-
 1.I was not interested in research But had some thing in mind.
 2.I was prepared from starting that I will land up in It industry.
 3.I had a great expectation form It industry that I will do a fandoo work but what was that work, I was expecting.. I don’t know?
 4.I think that in IT industry great brains are just wasting their time fixing small bugs ( most of the people )that an average people can do.
 5.In most of the IT company you don’t have fixed hours to work, what you need to do is just make client happy. You have to work 10 or 14 hours that not there problem.
 6.Those clients also have this thing in mind that’s why they ask for such estimates. They know Indian will manage it any how.

So this It industry is sucking us…..

But see the time just before IT boom. It was too hard to find a employment for us. Look at the wages before this era. So this boom has given a cash inflow and made our pocket heavy and stomach fool
so now we can think all disadvantages of this industry.
But this boom has give a thrust to inflation also…because young s/w and BPO people want to leave in present …they generally earns more den their parents. So just want to enjoy…
oohhh enoughf…..
Secnario-2
 Lets discuss now what engineers are ??
If I would have been in chemical field. There also proceeds is already built up, everything is defend, temperature, pressure blah blah…..
what you need to do is just have a check on that and monitor everything goes fine and if some problem there just fix that.
so ultimately here also engineers not doing anything new( most of them)

so compare the scenario-1 and 2 there is not much difference. Only difference would be there are so many labor working in secnario-2 so you a engineer shab there.
Is the frustration is for that respect??? Or so called bossism……No I think the only problem is I am not happy because with present. Have a habit of running and looking for future.
Now I want to do something else?? But when I will land up there then I will look for something else…..that will be the case until I will get tired of changes.
I think this happened because none of them was a dream for me…I landed up here because of situation, opportunity, compromises and no other good option was present.
So now before running into any other direction I want think a lot..Want to explore myself…and trying to changes my dreams…………..
